ALERT–Austin Fair Chance Hiring Ordinance Hearing

Attention companies doing business in Austin!

This could be just the start of letting the government tell you how to Hire!

The Austin City Council wants to tell you when you can do a criminal background check when you hire new employees.
• You won’t be able to do a background check until after you offer a job.
• The City will be able to fine you for violating this new law.
• This new law will cost your business more time and money to hire new workers.

We encourage your attendance at this hearing.  If you can attend in person, the Council will meet at 10 a.m.  This will give you an opportunity to sign in opposing this ordinance.  If you are planning on testifying, the public comments is expected to take place at 4 p.m.  or shortly thereafter.  The City Council meet at 301 W. Second Street Austin, Texas.  We hope to see you there!
